Rev. David Cox Sr, Pastor Temple of Faith Baptist Church
Rev. David Cox Sr. has been named Senior Pastor of Temple of Faith Baptist Church at 15801 W. Chicago Detroit, MI 48288 . An ordained Baptist preacher within the Southern Baptist Convention., Pastor David Cox was licensed in June 30th 2013 and was ordained on January 21, 2018 under the founding Pastor the late Pastor Rochelle Davis Sr.(PD).
Rev. David Cox graduated from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Economics and certification in Transportation. He is also a graduate of Gateway Seminary, where he has earned diplomas in 6 disciplines including Christian Ministries-CLD (2017) and Christian Ministry Leadership-ADVANCE (2021) during this time Rev .Cox earned the Academic Achievement Award for maintaining as GPA or 3.5 or higher and graduated with honors.
The Rev. Cox's most recent ministerial assignment was as Youth Pastor of Temple of Faith, were he help organized, lead, coordinated and taught Youth Church. He also served two 2-year assignment at Oak Park Missionary Baptist Church as a supply minster. Rev. David Cox Sr. previously serve a Deacon at Temple of Faith Baptist Church for 15 years where he was ordained in July of 1999 by the Ordination counsel withing the Southern Baptist Convention. He served two terms as Chairman of the Deacons Ministry.
Rev. Cox has served Temple of Faith as position of Youth Pastor for 5 years, Deacon for 14 years, Stewardship director for 15 years, and Trustee for 5 years and multiple other leadership position to including facilitating Executive Council and Church Business meeting. Rev. Cox as served our local church association, Greater Detroit Baptist Association were he has served as the GDBA Treasurer for the past 7 years where he was elected each year by the associational churches. Rev. Cox also served on the state level through the Michigan African American Fellowship, where he served as Recording secretary under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Stan Parker and in the past 3 years elected as Vice –President by member of the fellowship. Rev. David Cox also serves on the national SBC level as a Trustee with GuideStone Financial Resources for the past 8 years where he has served as Chairman of the Insurance Committee for the past 4 years and elected Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees in 2023. He served on the Presidential/CEO Search committee. In 2024, Rev. David Cox was elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees by the board members, becoming the First African American Male (Rene Trewick, first African American).
Personal
David Cox Sr. was born and raised in Miami, Florida. To Mother Mary Frances Johnson and Father Huel Cox Jr. He is the second oldest of nine children. After birth David was held in the hospital due complications. During this time his mom (Mary) and Aunt the late Alice Mason (Ma) would lift him up in prayer. After his release from the hospital has would routinely be prayed for by the mother of the church. (Gould Church of the Nazarene). He surrendered my life to Christ the age of 12 in June 1984 as a youth at Bible Camp through the guidance of Missionary (Sis. Betty Brinson, Glendale Baptist Church in Richmond Height, FL. He rededicated my life January 31, 1991 after the loss of my Grandmother during an eight drive from Miami, FL back to school in Tallahassee, FL.
In 1996 while working for CSX, moved to Detroit and meet a young lady named Tiffany. Tiffany were married in 1997 and are happily married with three children Niya (Zaire), David Jr., and Kelli. Along with two grandchildren Olivia Rose and Zarie Faulkner Jr. Tiffany has served next to Rev. Cox for over 28 years her at Temple of Faith. The Cox Crew (children) have also served in various position with Temple of Faith including Choirs, Ushering, and other Childrens and youth ministries.

David Cox Sr., CFPA was a board member of Educating U-4 Life, CDC were he served as President of the Board of Directors and served as Program Director of Financial Literacy for Educating U-4 Life, CDC. He is a Certified Personal Financial Analyst, with 32 year of experience in personal finance with licenses in Investment (Series 6, 7, 36 &63), Insurance, and mortgages. He has owned and operated businesses throughout the U.S. to include Michigan, Florida, and Arizona. Rev. Cox was employed by CSX Transportation (Rail Road) as an Operations Manager (Trainer Master) and Supervisor for Airborne Express (DHL).
Rev. David Cox currently works Bi-vocationally as a Supply Chain Manger for Penske Logistics with the Ford Moter Company Network. Where he oversees the Penske Container Management Team for Ford Motor Company with Central Staff (Leads) and Rack coordinator at 32 Ford plant operations. He has worked for Penske Logistics for over 19 years in a variety of positions ODC Container Manager and Lear LLP Manager, where he help develop processed and manage the Rack Department for 5 ODC Operations throughout North America (Chicago, IL; Romulus, MI; , Louisville, KY; Laredo, TX and San Luis Potosi , MX).
Rev. David Cox also actively serves on the Board of Advisors for the Christian Women Job Corp. (CWJC) under the leadership of Sis. Odelle Cadwell; serves on other Board of Advisory for local schools. Rev. Cox works as President of Cox Business Complex LLC and David Cox Sr, Ministries LLC.
